Charlie is a great person to work with and one of the most intelligent people I know. I've always been fascinated by her world travels and experiences in foreign relations. She always seems to have a pulse on current trends, new technologies, and has done a fantastic job revitalizing the Air Force Public Web Program, bringing it into the 21st century. She's also kind and compassionate, and has supported me through a lot of difficult times over my career. I know I'm not the only one though – she's the type that always makes time for the people she cares about.

Consular Officer, U.S. Embassy Seoul, South Korea
-
May 2005 - Apr 2007
One of the largest U.S. visa production centers in the world. Twenty-five consular officers and about 100 local staff to support the workload which can be as high as 3,000 visas a day. The work is challenging to keep up with and thankfully, the team I worked with had high spirits, great work ethic and a good sense of humor. I worked six months in the fraud prevention unit where we tracked applications who submitted fake documentation and contributed to arrests and legal cases in the U.S. and Korea. Helped promote tourism to the US by participating in a public speakers program to encourage students to study abroad in the US.

1999 - 2002
Managed language department operations on interim basis during absences of the Department Chief. Spearheaded a mission-critical security project to achieve 3 / 3 proficiency in English among 400+ local (Egyptian) embassy security guards (many of the guards had no preexisting English skills). Generated task-specific language instruction materials (primarily recordings) of dialogues for outside study and played a key role in teaching English courses. Collaborated with the HR division on student testing and both the Regional Security Office and Marine Security Guard contingent to develop situation-appropriate course scenarios and content.Specific Accomplishments• Positioned the Cairo embassy to limit casualties occurring in the aftermath of an initial attack by leading an initiative to improve the English skills of hundreds of non-American security guards to 3 / 3 (professional proficiency).• Ensured prompt accomplishment of language project objectives by tailoring course content to practical needs (in cooperation with U.S. security personnel) and through accommodation of the non-U.S. guards’ varied schedules by conducting classes after the close of business; met or exceeded program expectations without substantially disrupting guards’ duty schedules.Collaborated with the HR division on student testing and both the Regional Security Office and Marine Security Guard contingent to develop situation-appropriate course scenarios and content.
