      For my paid role, I am part of a team that is responsible for the young people within the care home. I am based at one in particular but do work at a variety of different homes across the region and further afield when this is required to meet the needs of the business. I am responsible for the safety, safeguarding of the young people and responsible for the running of their day to day lives. This includes administering medication, taking them to and from school, assisting with activities. I am also responsible for the upkeep of the home including but not limited to; cooking, cleaning and health and safety checks. As part of my role I have to have lots of contact with external professionals such as OFSTED, social workers, police and health workers. I also sometimes have to run shifts and coordinate staffing as well as complete meetings with external professional such as personal education planning meetings, looked after children reviews and TAC meetings. I also have to complete day to day paperwork including contact forms if the young person has contact with people outside of the home whether face to face or over the phone. I am also responsible for any accident forms if any accidents occur and I am first aid trained. I work closely with the young people and build a rapport and relationship with them but also maintain professional boundaries enabling them to feel safe and open up with me. I am also responsible for the reporting and recording of everything that happens within the home and outside of the home. When required I facilitate family and friends contacts and observe them if needed, I also complete safeguarding forms and assist in escalating to LADO or informing OFSTED as and when required.

      As a paid NCS team leader I was responsible for a group of 15 15-16 year old's who had recently finished school alongside my deputy team leader. This role consisted of leading a group throughout their summer programme including two residential weeks away completing activities away from home as well as two weeks completing projects to help their local community. Throughout this I was responsible for the safety and safeguarding of my group as well as other young people and staff. As part of this role I also had to attend taster sessions and days for the young people to introduce the staff and what the programme was about. During this role I was responsible for reporting any safeguarding concerns to the safeguarding lead and dealing with any altercations or issues that arose. One of my main responsibilities was ensuring that the young people had the best possible experience whilst ensuring they were safe and safeguarded at all times.
