      Undertaking extensive research on the lives of sexual and gender minorities across the globe, documenting human rights abuses, legislative developments and lived experiences in nation states. Researched and authored three book chapters overviewing rights protection, social attitudes and legal developments in MENA countries for ReportOUT's upcoming book, The Global Guide to Queer Rights. Leading a team of research volunteers on the research project 'OUT in Belize' in partnership with Belizean organisations to document the lived experiences of sexual and gender minorities within Belize. In this research project, I coordinated the creation of a literature review and a survey to disseminate across Belize in collaboration with our partner organisations and ReportOUT's communications team, and subsequently analysed the data to present in a report. Responsible for the electronic filing and management of our project's documents, proofreading and editing our survey, maintaining communication with our partners and overseeing the production of the finalised report. Previous member of the SDG team, where I assisted the identification of national, regional and international human rights mechanisms to amplify ReportOUT's research.       Awarded university funding to continue research for the UNHCR analysing their strategic engagement with the UN Special Procedures to improve protection for displaced and stateless people globally. Undertook interviews with UN staff at HQ and in the field to understand about how the UNHCR and UN Special Procedures engage with eachother to identify areas for improvement. Built on existing recommendations report delivered to the UNHCR, placing focus on how IDPs can be better protected and how country-specific mandates differ to thematic mandates. Invited to deliver a presentation to UN staff at the UNHCR HQ in Geneva at the end of September to speak about our research project, outline our findings and answer questions on the recommendations.       Chosen to be a student researcher for Essex Human Rights Clinic project ‘UN Special Procedures and the Rights of People who are Displaced and Stateless’ in Partnership with the UNHCR Human Rights Liaison Unit. Completed desk-based research, scoping where the work of selected UN Special Procedures make reference to and relates to issues pertaining to displaced and stateless persons, and presented information in factsheets. Conducted remote interviews with UN Special Procedure Mandate Holders, their OHCHR staff and UNHCR staff to speak about their cross-agency collaboration and understand where strategic engagement can be improved. Analysed information from interviews and desk-based research, subsequently co-authoring a 50-page report with recommendations designed to improve the strategic engagement between UNHCR and the Special Procedures. Awarded a bursary to continue this valuable research at the request of the UNHCR from July-September 2022.
