- supported a team of lawyers in a mediation process at the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (International Finance Corporation) concerning the activities of Delonex and Tullow Oil in the Kerio Valley of Kenya. Conducted corporate research and drafted memos on operational-level grievance mechanisms, human rights and environmental assessments, and responsible business practice - Supplied research on pertinent case law & statues and drafted memos for a judicial review against Global Affairs Canada for its lack of disclosure regarding Canadian interventions vis-a-vis the Inter-American Court for Human Rights' issuance of precautionary measures in the case of the Marlin Mine in Guatemala. - Compiled research to inform the communications and advocacy strategy surrounding the judicial review, and supported community engagement processes in Guatemala through the provision of legal information. - Organized a four-day campaign entitled "Water Not Gold," in opposition to the Nova Scotia (NS) Gold Show, sponsored the Province in partnership with the Mining Association of NS and the NS Prospectors Association. The campaign garnered public, government, and investor attention around issues of gold mining, and fostered societal discussion and engagement with an alternative economic vision for the region. - Facilitated a private workshop between MiningWatch Canada co-founder Joan Kuyek and the St. Mary's River Association to strategize around the No Open Pit Excavation (NOPE) campaign against the proposed Cochrane Hill project near Sherbrooke, NS. - Organized a public rally outside the Alt Hotel at the Halifax Airport, the location of the NS Gold Show.
