Charlie is a great person to work with and one of the most intelligent people I know. I've always been fascinated by her world travels and experiences in foreign relations. She always seems to have a pulse on current trends, new technologies, and has done a fantastic job revitalizing the Air Force Public Web Program, bringing it into the 21st century. She's also kind and compassionate, and has supported me through a lot of difficult times over my career. I know I'm not the only one though – she's the type that always makes time for the people she cares about.

Handling media relations and cultural affairs for all agencies in the U.S. Embassy. We place a high emphasis on PEPFAR, USAID, CDC, Humanitarian Assistance and economic development. Established a series of social media suites with record growth that rapidly engaged youth, creating a platform used to promote US SOUTHCOM objectives, coordinated with the Military Liaison Office, Continuing Promise 2010 officials and members of the TDY MIST teams. Promoted tourism with a photography competition. Prepared specialist on energy and water conservation issues involving rain forest areas that had delicate ecological systems. The local and national governments wanted both to promote tourism to these areas while limiting the potential for tourists to damage the areas and threaten unique wildlife.

    • Economic Officer, US Embassy Tokyo
      • Jul 2007 - Dec 2008

I handle the transportation portfolio which includes planes, trains and automobiles. I worked on developing and executing a comprehensive plan to attain an Open Skies Agreement with Japan, incorporating media, town hall meetings and diplomatic efforts in a coordinated effort to achieve success in the estimated $40 billion dollar US-Japan aviation industry agreement. We had a disproportionately high number of visiting officials in Japan and I provided airport support for all VIPs who arrived in a dedicated aircraft, such as Air Force One. Japan hosted the G8, so it was a particularly busy summer.

    • Consular Officer, U.S. Embassy Seoul, South Korea
      • May 2005 - Apr 2007

One of the largest U.S. visa production centers in the world. Twenty-five consular officers and about 100 local staff to support the workload which can be as high as 3,000 visas a day. The work is challenging to keep up with and thankfully, the team I worked with had high spirits, great work ethic and a good sense of humor. I worked six months in the fraud prevention unit where we tracked applications who submitted fake documentation and contributed to arrests and legal cases in the U.S. and Korea. Helped promote tourism to the US by participating in a public speakers program to encourage students to study abroad in the US.
