Two years after graduating, I found myself missing my Spanish and I CRAVED learning something new. Through my part-time Masters in Translation, I am working with the Spanish>English (ES>EN) language pairing and have unearthed a real desire to pursue this challenging and rewarding line of work.I am constantly gaining more of an understanding of translation techniques through practical assignments, as well as an awareness of the most relevant CAT tools (i.e. SDL Trados & Memsource). I was privileged to work as a teacher with Little Strummers, giving lessons on guitar and ukulele to people of all ages, in the studios, primary schools, a secondary SEN school and online. I got more out of the teaching, the more I put into it, relishing adapting my lesson plans depending on the capabilities and needs of the students.My greatest achievement here was designing and publishing the All Round Music Book Series alongside the Director. This gave me a taste for creating Marketing materials, and I became confident in my use of design packages InDesign and Illustrator. In my final year with them, we were working towards achieving Charity Status, running uplifting sing-alongs in nursing homes. Setting up all eight teachers on Zoom was a challenge but a worthwhile one, meaning we could continue to provide online lessons during the COVID19 pandemic.Little Strummers was a nominee for ‘Excellence in Primary/Early Years’ category of Music & DramaEducation Awards 2021 - announced by the charming Alexander Armstrong no less!

I was lucky enough to work in a primary and secondary school in Cádiz (Spain) for my year abroad placement.
