Property Analyst
-
Aug 2009 - Sep 2009
Having been in the property sector, the company was looking for profitable operating businesses to acquire prior to its subsequent flotation on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange. My role was to work with members of the company, liaising with advisers who were assisting the Board and analysing financial information on potential acquisition targets. Whilst there I gained a much broader insight into specific companies’ operational methods as well as valuable hands on experience working in a company head office.

Jun 2007 - Jun 2007
My role within the company provided an opportunity for me to go on a site visit to check progress on a pre-let development and I was responsible for gathering comparables to include in the client report for the freehold owner of the building. I assisted the planning team in compiling location, site and other relevant information together with various comparables for a number of the commercial properties in their portfolio. From this experience I achieved a much greater appreciation of the complexities of the property industry. I also shadowed an employee who was working towards his APC, which enabled me to clearly understand what my first two years of work would entail.

Assisting in all departments
-
Jun 2005 - Jun 2005
My role within the company required me to undertake various sections of work incorporating each department. These included their serviced office company Business Exchange, their in-house Architectural practice, Information Technology department, the Hotel operating division (Hotel Du Vin and Malmaison Hotels) and the Finance department. I attended an on-site development meeting for the Oxford Malmaison hotel. This allowed me to see the scale and complexity of a landmark development and I also participated in the subsequent decision making process. In the Architectural practice, I was involved in reviewing and preparing redevelopment plans and learned how Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) for new development proposals was created. In the Finance and IT departments I learned about various functions that were undertaken and saw how they worked to assist the operational parts of the business. Whilst at this company, I gained valuable experience of different aspects of the business and a greater understanding of how large public companies are run.
