Throughout this period I worked as a project consultant on a number of offshore systems mainly concentrating on the manufacturing phase of the engineering process. I was used as the main interface between the design and manufacturing teams, managing schedules/variations and co-ordinating quality inspections. I held weekly meetings with various sub-contractors such as fabricators, machinists and painters to ensure that the fabrications were moving along as per the latest schedule. Fabrications included:- Friction Hang Off Clamp – 3.2 material (Lloyds) - Launch and Recovery System (A-Frame and Snubber Unit)- Various pipe handling equipment (Chutes, clamps, roller boxes and Pipe line end termination)

June 2005 – June 2006 – Student Engineer (Sandwich Year) IHC Engineering Business designs, builds and supplies elegant engineering solutions for the offshore oil & gas, submarine telecom, defence and renewable industries. On re-joining IHC I initially worked as a project engineer on a 90 tonne trenching vehicle with a full launch and recovery system. After the completion of the i-trencher I joined the production team working on the deep water pipe lay system (J-Lay). During the build/commissioning phase of the J-Lay system I was in charge of the day to day running of the workshop activities. Responsibilities and achievements: • Worked over in South Korea where I was in charge of the final assembly of the sub-systems involved with the J-Lay Tower • In charge of the day to day running of the build/installation/commissioning phase of the J-Lay Tower whilst in the U.K. • Offshore experience – Working offshore for a period of 5 weeks during the sea trials of the i-trencher, this involved communicating with the customer on a daily basis and providing progress reports back to the office. • Schedule and Budget – Created production budget and schedules for various offshore equipment, working with suppliers to achieve realistic goals and objectives. • Completed the Construction Plant Competence Scheme, this course enables me to prepare and issue lifting plans to a competent person. This was most beneficial when planning lifts/trial fits that were required during the build phase of the J-Lay System.•Prepare and issue documents to the construction team. This includes method statements, work packages, risk assessments and test documents, whilst ensuring health and safety issues are made clear at all times.
