  In a two-week intensive medical training program called the Summer Medical Academy, I learned and practiced healthcare skills in emergency medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, and neonatology. I enjoyed this program because I met incredible healthcare professionals at Rady Children’s and learned so much from them.   In a nine-month internship program called COPE Junior Health Scholars, I assisted nurses and other staff with patient care tasks at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. I worked primarily with older patients in neurotelemetry and neuro-epilepsy departments. I also assisted in administrative work for the hospital. I completed the internship with 100 hours of healthcare practice.
