  At Middlebury College, First Year Counselors (FYCs), live in first year residences in order to create a positive and inclusive hall environment. The FYC program places a great deal of importance on putting diversity and inclusivity training in practice, as well as enacting strategies for facilitating conflict resolution between hall residents. FYCs serve as one of the main links between first year students and college resources, providing guidance on various elements of student life, including physical and mental health, academics, and social life. FYCs are also expected to monitor their halls for infractions of College policy, make themselves available to their residents, and host social events.

  Through collaboration with a lead counselor, the position of assistant camp counselor serves to foster a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the campers, each aged between four and five years old. Each day, the assistant counselor plans and executes structured activities that allow campers to develop a connection with both their peers and the natural environment. This role’s goal is the creation of a positive experience for all campers, emphasizing inclusion, safety, and fun. This position is only available during the summer months.
