James Keats

Charlie Carucci is an effective communicator and talented designer. I had the very good fortune of working with Charlie for the entirety of our final, production-focused year at Champlain. With his dedication, experience, and design intuition, our senior team did the impossible and completed an exciting and innovative first-person shooter for PC with mechanics that were engaging and couldn’t be found anywhere else. Charlie has the ability to not only come up with great ideas, but organize and communicate them effectively, and to execute them with great attention to detail. He is always positive and friendly, and his attitude encourages collaboration even in the toughest times for a team. I can only hope that our professional paths cross again in the future.

As an associate designer, my responsibilities mostly fall under the level design umbrella (block-outs & gameplay scripting) as well as setting up combat, puzzle, and dialogue encounters in both an open-world and instanced setting. I use an advanced 3D level editor and Insomniac's visual scripting language along side various other programs (Maya, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, etc.) on a daily basis in order to complete my tasks.

I learned how to use Insomniac's Level Editor and their visual scripting language while getting to work alongside Insomniac's design team.
