The main responsibility of this role is running the sea turtle rehabilitation centre. Daily work includes general turtle husbandry; feeding, cleaning tanks, cleaning patients, etc. Many of our turtle patients have buoyancy issues as a result of entanglement in marine debris. By taking them on sea swims, trying weight therapy methods, and utilising various feeding strategies to encourage diving, we hope to rehabilitate and release them in the near future. Fundraising is currently essential in this role, as an NGO who relies on volunteers, we have lost the main source of our funding due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Show less

The Safer Portsmouth Partnership conducts a bi-annual survey to identify public perceptions of anti-social behaviour, and how this impacts quality of life for Portsmouth residents. My role was to interview members of the public using a questionnaire. Engaging and interacting with members of the public was pivotal for gaining confidence and developing communication awareness. I worked for this organisation twice, for the 2016, and 2018 surveys.
