Apart of the EIC assets engineering team responsible for the continual safe and efficient operation of generation assets. Powering approximately 75% of the Northern Territory. Assets span across multiple stations: Channel Island Power Station (310 MW), Weddell Power Station (130 MW), Owen Springs Power Station (80 MW), Katherine Power Station (35 MW) and a grid Battery Energy Storage System (5 MW). Asset Management:• Asset management auditing and planning.• Identifying and developing preventative maintenance (PM) tasks for electrical assets.• Identifying critical spares and required stock items. Electrical & Plant Works:• Transformer testing and repairs• HV protection review.• Protection relay testing. Experience with GE, Schneider and SEL relays.• Plant failure investigation reports on various levels.• Use of PMO for work orders, PM tasks, inventory cataloguing, raising, and receipting of purchase orders (PO). • Creating permits for plant work using a safe system of work. • Creating and updating electrical drawings (MicroStation and SolidWorks).Control Systems Work:• DCS works (Yokogawa Centum VP): adding new instruments, updating graphics, adding alarms for operators.• Updating historian data collector. • SCADA works (Yokogawa FastTools).• PLC works (Siemens TIAV14). • Experience with industrial control systems communications (MODBUS, serial, ethernet). Technical Modelling:• Created an inertial response model for network wide generation to determine how to minimise rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) during events.• Network wide capacity model of the Alice Springs region. Focusing on solar contribution, maintenance regimes, unplanned outages for gas, diesel, and solar generation. Model included fuel quality and temperature derates. • Fiscal modelling to determine inefficient generation operating schemes. • Network voltage and frequency modelling to ascertain PLC code responses for the BESS’s optimal response. My thesis focused on developing a machine learning approach to tackle frustrations that drivers everywhere face; finding a park. The solution was to develop a cost effective and reliable system which could be utilised on any car park.
