Brought on initially due to my familiarity with the organization and the need for fundraising; I quickly had to focus on an organization wide crisis. Due to a long period in which approximately half a million dollars was stolen and a broad misunderstanding of management and board responsibilities; the organization was on the verge of bankruptcy. As a result, drastic cuts and changes had to be made to save the organization. I have spent the better part of my time with the organization working through this crisis and others spawned by the culture that led to the fraud in the first place. In spite of this, numerous accomplishments have taken place. A strategic plan was adopted in December 2014. A donor management system has been acquired and for the first time we are tracking donors. We successfully completed our second annual fundraising dinner. We have sent three straight end of year appeals with each year improving on the previous one. Corporate sponsors have been acquired for events for the first time. Communications and awareness have improved through the use of social media, email marketing, board packets, an improved committee structure and many other additions. Budgeting, financial reports and audits are becoming common place. Improvements in our facilities and equipment have been made. All of this organizational development has transformed the public image and saved a 90-year-old organization from collapse. Representing St. Vincent de Paul, I have also been an active leader throughout the community and the National Society of St. Vincent de Paul. I am currently the chair of the Pierce County Service Coalition. I am also the president elect for the Rotary Club of Tacoma South. Finally, I am the coordinator for the national mentoring program of St. Vincent de Paul. This experience has allowed me to connect both executive and volunteer leaders with mentors making a stronger national organization in the process. Show less

Hired to develop and increase the capacity of our outreach affiliates and recruit more members while streamlining communications. During this time established relationships with Catholic parishes, businesses and other partners in South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart. After serving in this capacity for about 15 months, I was promoted to the executive director position. While serving as executive director, the organization increased fundraising by 50%. This allowed us to acquire and open a new programs/corporate office building and open a second retail store. As a result, and in conjunction with the physical expansion, we doubled our volunteers, increased the capacity of legacy programs and developed new ones targeted at serving those in need throughout the service area. This expansion of the organization was guided by board development that included strategic planning. Show less
