This internship gave me a lot of confidence to step into the field of sports physiotherapy. During this rather short period (4 weeks), I managed to grow a lot and I certainly learned to apply creative exercise therapy in different sports related cases. Also, this internship gave me the opportunity to work in a very intensive 1 on 1 contact with the patients, which is a very important factor to me. This internship, under supervision of a physiotherapist/ostheopath, learned me mainly how to deal with back-/neckproblems and how to properly treat them. Regarding exercise therapy, this internship did not teach me a lot, although overall, it did give me a good feeling. While working on the orthopedics department, I worked mostly with patients who underwent knee or hip arthroplasty. I also had the chance to observe a total knee replacement and a pectoralis major transfer. The latter was performed in order to replace a totally ruptured subscapularis muscle. This internship at the 'centre of sports medecine' led to my first babysteps into the field of sports physiotherapy. At this point, I did not have a lot of prior experience unfortunately, but after all, I learned a lot during this internship.
