As an undergraduate student, I did two summer internships at TVH Group, a global player in the distribution of trucks and spare parts. 1. During my first internship at TVH, I managed to set up a computing cluster on Google Cloud and programmed their existing pricing code parallel. That way it could fully benefit from the computing power provided by the Google Compute Engine and run much faster on larger datasets. 2. During my second internship at TVH I was offered a new project, which involved developing a fuzzy string matching algorithm so that the company could flag internal customers that are on international embargo lists. Together with my IT peers, we were responsible for the technology innovation and maintenance of this student-led non profit organization. Our biggest project was the construction of a central database system complemented with a web app. This allowed our 50+ members to remotely access useful data through their browser by using their organizational email. Not only did our project impact the efficiency of the organization, it also enhanced the knowledge transfer to the next generations of AFC.
