  Star Hanger System was started in 2011 by Charles Porter. Charles is a lifelong woodworker with over 40 years of experience that rages from historic preservation to Fortune 500 corporate woodwork. Charles was the founder of Southern Architectural Woodwork, which grow to be one the largest high end custom woodworkers in the South East. Completed projects include IBM, Goodrich, Penn State, Duke Law, NAR, NRA, Transamerica, Blue Cross, K Street and more. Southern’s specialty was custom lay-up panel work, design detailing, worldwide veneer sourcing, fabrication, finishing and installation. Charles was an early innovator and one of the first using CNC routers in the 1970s, Custom Programming in the 1980s, Lean Manufacturing in 1990s. The company was sold to Langenbacher from NY to provide custom woodwork in the city. Charles discovered 3D printing, which provided an outlet for ideas that had been for bounced around at Southern for years. What if we had? What if we could find? Was changed to yes let’s try that, and what if we modified this? With the help of a great group of local woodworkers willing to try out some new ideas on real projects Star Hanger Systems was founded. Star Hanger Systems has been growing at a steady but closely controlled rate for 5 years. We like to keep close contact with our customer and maintain a scale that allows us to carefully review the both the woodworker and the installers feedback. With job site feedback and in-house testing we have continually modified our molds, profiles, and system instructions to present up to date best practices to our growing list of direct customer and designer/specifiers. We currently have 3 patents, 2 Patent Applications and 4 Provisional Patents and 4 new systems in development. Our intention to be the primary supplier concealed fasteners systems in the US.
