Analysis Co-Lead
-
Oct 2022 - Present
I am currently an analysis lead at the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, a club at U.C. San Diego which builds and launches solid and liquid fueled rockets. I help to lead a team of five to six engineers that performs analysis and design validation for components, primarily using finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics on ANSYS’s suite of software. Since I became an analysis lead in October of 2022, we have conducted simulations on a solid thrust chamber assembly, nosecone, impinging injector, parachute recovery bay, and fins. In addition to helping to run simulations, I have sat for critical design reviews and worked to create a training document to help onboard new members in the future. I am currently in the process of learning the ACP software from ANSYS to run composite simulations in the near future.

Analysis Team Member
-
Apr 2022 - Oct 2022
The Analysis team at Rocket Propulsion Laboratory conducts analysis tasks for the other teams using a combination of ANSYS, MATLAB, and hand-calculations. The work done by the analysis team, which includes stress analysis, fluid flow simulations, and thermal simulations, is important for validating the design decisions that the teams make in components and prototypes. While I was a team member, I worked on simulations relating to test stand deflection plate heating and propellant tank pressurization. In October of 2022, I was promoted to Analysis co-lead.

Hermes Team Member
-
Nov 2021 - Oct 2022
FAR 51025 is a competition conducted by the Friends of Amateur Rocketry to build a rocket that flies up to 5,000, 10,000, or 25,000 feet. For this competition, we are building a solid-fueled rocket called Hermes to fly up to 25,000 feet and deploy a payload: a cubesat from UC Davis. I worked on the initial design scope, research on the motor, and simulations. I stepped back from this project in October of 2022 due to my promotion to Analysis co-lead.

New Member Project
-
Oct 2021 - May 2022
The New Member Project is an introductory project to build a small solid-fueled rocket in teams of 3-5 to fly to roughly 3,000 feet in altitude. Over the course of this project, I have worked on modeling, fluid flow and stress analysis, avionics, and manufacturing. Due to design, manufacturing, and testing issues during the course of the project, the rocket designed and manufactured for the NMP project did not fly. I may revisit this rocket in the future as a standalone project, correcting the mistakes that prevented the original rocket from flying.

Personal Shopper
-
Nov 2019 - Dec 2020
For roughly a year, I worked as a personal shopper at a local Whole Foods Market. As a personal shopper, my responsibility was to process grocery orders by selecting items in the store that the customer ordered, place them in the correct bags based on their temperature, and place the bags in the appropriate areas for delivery drivers to pick up. Occasionally, I had closing shifts which required me to help close the order/delivery areas of the store by cleaning them, putting items in their storage areas, taking out garbage, and handling any remaining outstanding orders.
