Charlene is an excellent school psychologist. She is a strong advocate for students, both in and out of the classroom. She works to build relationships with not only the students, but she also provides wonderful, caring customer service to parents and families. She has a focus on data and uses it to make the best decisions for student supports, services and programs. Cherie Vannatter, Assistant Superintendent Achievement and Student Services, Washtenaw ISD

I had the pleasure of working with Charlene during her first year of teaching at Aspire Cal Prep. Ms. Mangi was an exceptional teacher. She demonstrated an unrelenting work ethic in her first year, designing and executing a curriculum for science courses at the high school and middle school levels. She consistently used strong data analysis skills to inform her work and consistently implemented new instructional strategies across the year to improve her pedagogy. She interacted with students with a warm and professional tone that created a strong culture of achievement, and her organizational skills were consistent and strong.

I am the school psychologist for the four schools that make up the Manchester school district (preschool through high school). I am responsible for interventions, assessments and services, including (but not limited to) comprehensive psychoeducational special education evaluations of students, mental health crisis counseling, running CBT and Social Skills groups, coordinating an after school literacy program, and of course, collaborating with stakeholders across the district to make sure we are providing the best possible education for Manchester kids. I wear many hats in this role and give my executive functioning skills a workout!

As a full time school psychologist, I worked at the Court and Community Schools in Ventura County, serving incarcerated and expelled youth. Prior to being hired as full time psychologist, I interned several sites run by the Ventura County Office of Education, including a program for students with emotional disturbance, a program for students with moderate to severe disabilities and a small school district. As a school psychologist, I honed my ability to collect and use data to evaluate students with special needs, collaborate with a team to provide behavior consultation and counseling services.

In this part time role during graduate school, I designed and led an undergraduate internship program (Violence Intervention and Prevention) that trained students to be active bystanders in preventing interpersonal violence, and to train other students to do so as well.
