I use art to help people connect with God, Self, and Others. I facilitate contemplative creative retreats, workshops, and worship. I write Bible Studies and online devotionals. I also paint and create original artwork. Through the ministry of Grace Works Studio, I use art to help people connect with God, self, and others. I also equip other ministry settings to use art and creativity. Included in my role is using art as a spiritual discipline, teaching art to at risk kids and communities as a means of expressing themselves in safe and creative ways, facilitating creative retreats for adults, youth, and/or children, filling pulpits, leading children’s messages, teaching creative ways to worship, and teaching creative spiritual disciplines. As an Ordained Deacon of the United Methodist Church, I periodically paint sets and props for Children’s Musicals, Vacation Bible School, and Choral Cantatas. On occasion, I also teach drawing and painting classes in after school and summer programs. I have also served as worship leader for Middle School Worship at Warren Willis United Methodist Camp, Fruitland Park, FL. Privileged to serve as an Exhibiting Artist at the 2011 Convocation and Pastor’s School hosted by Duke Divinity School. Coordinated a community intergenerational installation of 40 canvases (12 of which are mine) reflecting on the theme 40 Acres and a Mule, which is permanently exhibited in the A. A. Young Historic Center in Royal, FL. In June 2013 I served as an Artist in Residence at the Duke Youth Academy, two weeks of living in Christian community, geared toward Christian Formation. Working with High School Students, I taught workshops on Contemplative Painting and Mandalas. I also helped them to see how art integrates in worship, in the practice of Spiritual Disciplines, and in life. Show less
