I currently work in the Private Client department as a Paralegal assisting one of the firm’s Partners. My daily duties include admin tasks such as filing, letter-writing, emailing and keeping Clients up-to-date with the progress of their matters. I am knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel as well as case management systems such as Filos and Intelliworks. As well as assisting the Partner with his caseload, I am responsible for my own caseload and Clients. My cases generally consist of Wills, Lasting Power of Attorneys, Notarial Certificates and Estate Administration matters. I am required to keep all my Clients updated throughout their matters and this can be done through email, telephone or letters as well as in face-to-face Client meetings. Show less

This role required me to work and serve on the Food-to-Go, Bakery and Delicatessen counters. I was also trained on the checkouts in case any extra staff were needed to help during busy periods. Being a member of the counters team meant I directly conversed with customers every shift which improved both my multi-tasking abilities and communication skills. I was required to serve customers whilst also ensuring the counters and shelves were stocked with freshly cooked food. This role was my first part-time position and involved me keeping the shop floor tidy and presentable to customers who came into the store. I was an integral part of the Women’s wear team as I not only ensured the department was tidy at all times but was also responsible for replenishing stock prior to the store opening and regularly throughout the day. I was also on-hand to answer queries that any customers may have had. As well as the above duties, I was also trained to serve on the cash tills and the customer service desk. Working on both of these areas meant I was engaging with the customers just before they left the store, which enabled me to leave a good impression which may have increased the likelihood of a customer returning to the store. This work experience lasted one week and was my first experience working within a Law Firm. During the week, I sat with a Solicitor within the Energy-Management department where I assisted her with research tasks and drafting documents. My assistance allowed her to focus on other work which was of higher importance whilst I dealt with minor issues. I also took part in several Law based activities as well as visiting the Google offices in London where I presented a project as part of a group. This helped with my communication, teamwork and presentation skills, as well as helping to boost my confidence. Show less
