      • Jan 2019 - Mar 2020

Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth was a two-year pilot programme by the British Council implemented in Columbia, Kenya and Vietnam. The program explored the use of cultural heritage - from the built environment through to cultural traditions such as music and language to facilitate growth at all levels of society. The assignment was to provide an in-depth assessment of the skills needed in the cultural heritage sector in Kenya (e.g. museums, archives and libraries) and subsequently design and deliver a skills programme, informed by the initial skills assessment. Training programs focused on archiving, preservation and digital skills to enable audiences to “tell their own stories”. Between August 2019 and October 2020 the programme offered skills and knowledge to more than 200 cultural and creative professionals, young people, across Kenya. Show less
