Derick D. Jones Jr., PhD

Chantal Pelzer is one of a kind gift to Humanity. She is a Public Health expert, an infectious disease research scientist, and an overall great person to mentor. Working under my mentorship, Chantal earned her first publication as a natural products chemist with emphasis on combating multi-drug resistant bacterial infections. Chantal always had a passion for medicine, and I can only imagine the significant impact she will have on the world as a medical doctor. Chantal is a well-organized person, she knows what she desires, and she takes advice and critique to become better constructively and ultimately reach her aspiration. I am so proud to say that Chantal will be publishing her very own peer-reviewed first-author publication. It is a joy working with her as a corresponding author. See Chantal go above and beyond in research, and her professional aspirations are genuinely a gift to the world. When I decided to get my Ph.D. in Medicinal Biochemistry, Chantal was the gift given to me to travel this journey. Chantal will always have my support in everything she does. Chantal has my highest recommendation for an internship, job, or even application for medical school. Ms. Pelzer has proven that she can do chemistry even with a degree in public health. She embraced the challenge, and she is winning. When medical schools look at her and consider offers, I hope they see an investment that will never go to waste. As her mentor, I will always be here for Chantal Pelzer. She is a great writer, and she has mastered analytical biomedical research. She challenges herself daily to be the best human she can be. She believes in creating authentic and caring communities. I have seen her interact with other students, and she knows how to make a tense conversation productive. She is a problem solver and an overall great servant-leader. She thrives off, building great scientific research projects with people. She believes that collaboration is a beautiful art that is multidimensional. I am happy to write a formal letter of recommendation and endorsement for Chantal, whenever needed! Signed, Her Forever Mentor: Derick D. Jones, Jr.
