Self-discipline, strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and positive attitude are cornerstones of human relations and were very much the core strengths of Channa. The transformation from a defence background, having managed hundreds of thousands to a commercial set up was seamless for him due to the sheer inner strength of the collaborative mindset. A great teammate and a very dependable HR personality. He was instrumental in transforming group HR of a multifaceted entity to be a progressive outfit. Technical HR aspects from policies to trade union negotiations and employee engagements were done with brilliant results. Most of these were enacted new or wholly revamped to be in line with future needed. The employee engagement index improved dramatically during these years. He was also Tech savvy and future-centric. He won the trust and confidence across the group and, to me personally, was a great strength in the quest to restructure and rebuild a future-centric entity. He is a great asset to any organisations. I wish him the very best.

It is my pleasure to provide a reference for Maj Gen Channa Goonetilleke. I worked with Gen Goonetilleke for over six months during an on-going assignment of Leadership Development for Battalion Commanders of the Tri-Forces through the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff in Sri Lanka. He always presented himself in a professional and self-confident manner, and deals with consultants with respect in a humble fashion - this I see as an extremely rare quality, coming from a senior decorated military officer of his class. Channa worked with us on three projects with which I was associated, and he demonstrated a unique sense of organization and attention to detail and deadlines while maintaining a clear focus on the overall goals of each program, which is a good example to the corporate Sri Lanka. He is very clear with the transformational objectives and he is after results. Continuous improvement in tool usage and subject mix is his game. I must say that we enjoyed the challenge and learnt many things from him during the product development stage. He exhibits a strong desire to obtain perfection, but recognizes the need to be practical and flexible as required. I believe he can and would provide a dedicated and valuable contribution in any manner of management assignments even in the private sector. He is a true Officer and a Gentleman who is passionate in helping his fellow men transform themselves from good to great.
