After ‘Honk! Jnr’ I began directing a Carols by Candlelight evening. I first held auditions, selected and assigned voice parts. I then chose music and began rehearsals, composing harmonies as we needed them. To create variety in the performance I also arranged for the Durban Symphonic Choir and local musicians to perform alongside the choir I had trained.

Appointed as musical director of ‘Honk! Jnr’ in 2012, I began studying the script and score. The producers and I held auditions, selected and assigned parts and then began to work on an intensive rehearsal schedule. I taught the cast strictly from the score to maintain accuracy, and performances ranged from solo’s, duets and large chorus numbers with 4 part harmonies. Close attention had to be paid to rhythm as spoken dialogue was used during musical numbers.
