My community service experience in iVolunteer's initiative 'Tell a Story!" was enriching and unique from my expectations. The initiative's purpose was to create a story bank for children of the age group 4-10 years in different Indian languages apart from English. The recorded stories would later be shared by iVolunteer to various NGOs around India, who work with children to play it for them to hear. It was an intriguing experience to take part in the initiative because I've embraced a few essential skills in the process, which would later come in handy, especially in counseling. The entire service experience has improved my personal and professional well-being. I became confident in my voice. I have also understood the importance of communication, patience, speaking in vernacular languages, and, most importantly, understanding the children's point of view.

I was an observer in the out-patients department. I was supervised by Dr. Pragna Mithra who is a Clinical Psychologist working in the hospital. I have observed around 70 patients coming from various districts of the state. After a few weeks of Observership, by assisting the post-graduate students (medical officers under the supervision of the psychiatrist), I got the opportunity to have a direct conversation with the patients in the repeat O.P room. Here we spoke to the patients regarding their prognosis as the psychiatric treatment is being given to them. Under the doctor's guidance, and based on the patient's answers, the dosages are increased/unchanged. The observership as well as direct interactions - has given me a clear perspective on the underlying causes of disorders which were often attributed due to biological reasons, environmental stress, and social stress.
