Put the final features and resolved over fifty bugs on an internal software project. The project used a web interface to generate configuration files with settings for other systems that could be added and altered. Assisted in the design of new features for the project such as exporting a Protege knowledgebase as an XML file. This feature required knowledge of REST calls, Java, and JavaScript along with an understanding of how this feature may affect the project as a whole. This feature was a great introduction a full scale web application. Gained experience in coding back-end logic as well as front-end web elements. Tools and languages used included Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012, Model-View-Controller Pattern, RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS), Protege, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Eclipse, along with some need for C, C++, SQL, and Firebug. Tutor of Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science
-
Aug 2012 - May 2014
Main role was tutoring students in the subjects of Discrete Mathematics for Computing I and II. Led review sessions for student in the week before exam days. These review sessions included a brief overview of topics that would be covered on the exam followed by a set of example problems that the student should know how to work going into the exam. Problems would be worked on the board for students while allowing them to ask questions along the way. Each review session would have anywhere from 5-15 students. Supervised exam reworks for professors. Most Discrete Math professors allowed the students to rework exam in order to gain some missed points back so we were trained on how to supervise these reworks properly. Only a certain number of students were allowed to rework the exam at a time and during that time, they were only allowed to ask the tutor for help on a problem, but could not use any other materials Attended discrete math classes in order to specialize in one professors teaching style to help students enrolled in that particular class. Attended one professor's class so if students from that class came in for help, the student could be directed towards someone familiar with what the professor was teaching at that moment. During these classes, notes would be taken and posted online for all other tutors to look at. Show less

Assisted in testing, defect resolution, and adding enhancements to an on-going project. Spent the first three weeks participating in quality assurance since regular QA team was backed up with other projects. At the end of my QA term, the iteration was deployed for use. Used a simplified QA cycle for each defect and enhancement test since no formal training was given. Spent remainder of internship correcting over twenty defects and adding in two enhancements. Used C# as main language with some need for C and C++. Learned to use TortoiseSVN efficiently along with Visual Studio 2007. Tasked with development of SonarQube plugin for managing code quality. Was able to use tutorials along with previously developed plugins to create this plugin, Tools and languages used included TortoiseSVN, Microsoft Visual Studio 2007, SonarQube, C#, C/C++. Show less
