This role entailed working first as an environmental laboratory technician and then as a water and wastewater treatment operator.Laboratory experience included collecting and analyzing water and wastewater samples for regulatory and operational parameters such as total suspended solids (TSS), volatile suspended solids (VSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), orthophosphate, ammonia, oxygen uptake rate, turbidity, and colour among others. Laboratory duties also included maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, data entry, cleaning glassware, maintaining chemical inventories, and maintaining clear and accurate calibrations records.Water and wastewater treatment experience included the treatment of 75,000 cubic meters per day of process water required to produce Kraft pulp, 140 cubic meters per day of potable water for employee consumption, and 65,000 cubic meters per day of process wastewater. Experience also included checks, inspections and troubleshooting of equipment such as pumps and motors and conducting operational tests on water and wastewater to ensure quality parameters are met and exceeded.
