As part of my transition from Missouri to Michigan, I am currently a long-term substitute at Godfrey Elementary School as the STEAM teacher. I am developing and implementing unique lessons to help students connect to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. I am on a committee to develop a K-12 vertical STEAM alignment that incorporates robotics in the curriculum at all grade levels. Upward Bound is a grant-funded program that assists high school student from financial disadvantage homes and/or who has parents that did not complete at least 4-year degree in college. Our goal is to help students take and pass the correct course in high school, and do well on the ACT so they can attend the college of their choosing. Additionally, Upward Bound expands these students' cultural experiences through field trips and community service. Our students come from all the high schools in St. Francois County. I have direct responsibility for the students at Farmington Schools, Central Schools, and West County Schools. In addition to working with students, academic advisors track and report data, plan monthly Saturday activities, organize a 6-week summer program, plan an extended summer trip, development curriculum, and instructional materials, recruit, advise on career, college, FAFSA, and much more. One of my most recent successes is the FIRST Robotics team I coached qualified for the World Championship as a rookie team. We finished in the top 1/3 of all the teams at worlds. It is humbling to be able to work with such a great group of students.

Head Swim Coach
-
Mar 2013 - Oct 2016
Develop the abilities of each swimmer on the team to better understand themselves as a swimmer and team member. Plan and develop workouts, overseeing assistant coaches, and advise the board on the needs of the team. Each of the past three years the team has seen an increase in total enrollment. This year, the team is larger than any other year in recent history. Under my leadership, FAST has sent multiple swimmers to the Junior Olympics each year. Additionally, the team has grown in size to more than double my first year coaching.
