Chris was kind enough to hire me when he was teaching at University of the Arts in Philadelphia and it quickly became my favourite place to teach. Chris was a popular lecturer with a real understanding of hand drawn animation, moreso than anyone else in the department and he let that enthusiasm soak into his classes. He has a modern, international mind and used that to draw students away from their traditional obsessions and, physically, to draw them to the Annecy festival in France and the big Ottawa animation festival in Canada. He he has a musical and literate mind and is a lot of fun to hang out with and shoot the breeze with.

When I work to create community in the classroom, Chris is my model. His exceptional desk-side manner and encouraging attitude not only brings out the students' best work, but it also creates an environment where everyone can do their best. I enjoy his international perspective, and I envy his imagination.
