My career has benefited greatly from my professional qualification, and when the opportunity arose to sit on ACCA's council, influencing current and future policy I was very keen to be involved. I was successfully elected by ACCA's members in 2002. At the time I was the youngest member to sit on Council and aimed to represent not only the needs of SMEs, but also the perspective of younger members of the Association. I enjoyed my term on Council and made a strong contribution to matters such as policy on regulation post-Enron, and the leadership and future of the ACCA but a young family, added to promotion to Partnership influenced my decision to not go forward for a second term.
