I contributed towards bespoke reports on tax planning for individuals and their businesses, property acquisition, domicile reviews and tax efficient asset management. In addition to providing advice on tax efficient remittances, offshore structures and inheritance tax, I also dealt with compliance for a portfolio of clients including managing HMRC enquiries as they arose. I trained with Moore Stephens in the Private Client Tax department which deals with compliance and tax planning for individuals and their related structures, specialising particularly in non domiciled individuals. Through my heavily biased non domiciled client portfolio I had significant exposure to, and involvement with, residence and remittance planning and compliance, enabling me to develop expertise in these areas and international issues. Within this portfolio I dealt with a number of expatriate clients covering dual contracts, share remuneration, working abroad, coming to/from the UK, NIC issues, property advice and tax efficient asset management. I also undertook a secondment focusing technically on mainstream tax issues to support various client facing departments, namely Private Client Services (comprised of Private Client Tax, Employers’ Support Group, Wealth Management Division and Trusts & Estates) and Business Tax (incorporating VAT). This involved producing the weekly tax bulletin of technical developments for tax staff in the firm nationwide and contributing to tax related fact sheets, alerts and publications. I was also available to assist other members of the department in providing advice and solutions to technical tax queries. Show less
