I have got the opportunity to work with Ceri in an open innovation project. In our seven years of working together with multiple aspects of the project, Ceri has shown his tremendous efforts and depth of knowledge in wireframe design, software development and Web development. His dedication towards listening client problems and calmly delivering solutions to the client expectations is really commendable. Kudos to him for his great work!

As Lead Developer I am responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of projects for a range of clients, from start-ups to FTSE 100 enterprises. My role on these projects covers everything from high-level architectural design to day-to-day coding and implementation - I'm very much a "hands-on" lead developer. I am also responsible for managing/mentoring our small development team, and project management in general: scoping, business analysis, budgeting, scheduling, etc. Away from the keyboard, I play an active role in the business-side of things, participating in project pitches, agreeing costs/budgets, recruitment, and general strategy. A small selection of the projects with which I have been most involved: • Agency 2: Social data analytics and reporting engine, providing brand and consumer insights based on algorithmic analysis of large data sets. • Nokia: Innovation portal, used to solicit, manage and reward intellectual property submissions from external inventors. • Pan Macmillan: EPub Extracts site, featuring automated parsing of EPub books and JSON API for consumption in 3rd party web and mobile apps. • Pearson: Developer API Portal, integrating access to Apigee and Zuora 3rd party systems via Rest and SOAP APIs. • Penguin Random House: "Roost", UK-wide intranet borne out of the merger of Penguin and Random House. • UK Sport: Cloud-based journal and coach mentoring system, used as part of their Elite Coaching Programme. The above projects cover a range of technologies, platforms and APIs, but are primarily implemented in C#/SQL Server. As well as client work, I take the lead developer role on our internal projects and systems, including: • Sitesuma: Mature CMS platform and general utility framework, providing a solid and secure foundation layer for our more technically complex projects. • Webtility: Line's custom-built Studio Management System, used for everything from individual task management up to budget forecasting and reporting. BitBolt was a software consultancy I co-founded, providing enterprise scale software development services to small and medium sized businesses. Initially a side-project, BitBolt became a full-time operation in March 2005. Our focus was in delivering enterprise solutions, on time and on budget, using agile software development techniques. C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server were the main technologies used. During my time at BitBolt I was primarily responsible for business analysis, project management, and software engineering. Some of the main projects I worked on were: • Foursquare Relocation: A web based CRM/workflow application. Developed in C#/ASP.NET, I worked on this application from its initial implementation, and for a further 10 full release cycles, including the successful handover of the system during the merger of 4Square Relocation with their new parent company, Primacy Relocation. • Something4: A web based stock control and ecommerce application. This was an existing application written in C#/ASP.NET/VB 6.0. I worked with Something4’s development team to introduce solid engineering practices, such as unit testing, and load testing, and to improve run-time performance of the system. • Mirashade: A PHP/MySQL travel management web application, hosted on Linux/Apache. This was an existing project where I was brought in to implement core business logic, and generally overhaul the quality of the system to make it appropriate for live deployment. Show less

Working as part of a small team I helped develop and maintain the registry operations for the top-level internet domain, ".coop". Our team built all the systems required to run and monitor the domain registry 24/7 in accordance with ICANN requirements, using ASP.NET, C# and SQL Server. These systems included two multi-threaded socket servers to provide support for the EPP and WHOIS protocols, several web sites, and a number of batch processes (for example to generate BIND zone and configuration files). Poptel also owned an ICANN-accredited registrar, selling ".coop" domain names. I played a leading role in the development of an e-commerce solution for this side of the business, including the implementation of an online credit card payment system. Show less
