Fostered dogs at home for a non-profit animal shelter. Had to make sure dogs were ready for adoption by providing various training, such as potty training, crate training, obedience training, etc. Opportunities for adoptions were on weekends, so I was responsible for transporting the dog to and from the shelter consistently and promptly. Was also responsible for creating a profile for the dog to inform possible adopters about their personality and temperament. Biomedical Research Intern

Trained in a neuroscience laboratory growing and observing astrocytes through various biochemical and cell biological techniques. The goal was to analyze how mitochondria respond to metabolic challenges in models of injury. I collected and analyzed data through various microscopic techniques and imaging processing programs and completed a variety of statistical analyses using Excel. While in the lab, I interacted with other students, trainees, and the lab director to gain an appreciation for achieving team-based goals. Show less
