The New Zealand Government introduced policy for the Reform of Vocation Education (ROVE) in 2019 which included the dissolution of Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) in New Zealand and amalgamation of the polytechnic sector. The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) was responsible for oversight of these significant changes to education policy in New Zealand. In 2020, I was appointed to the interim establishment board of the Workforce Development Council (WDC) for Services (Hospitality, tourism, aviation, financial service, retail) to oversee the transition to the new organisation. This board prepared the Order in Council, including the governance structure of the new WDC, appointment of new board members and considered transition arrangement for the new entity. The WDC was stoodup in July 2021. I was not eligible to be appointed to the new board as the New Zealand School of Food and Wine receives Tertiary Education funding.
