  The buoy team's purpose was to assist in identifying former non-point source pollution as geographical point source pollution in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Teams built, launched, and monitored data retrieved by buoys. The data was then uploaded to National Geographic’s FieldScope. The MRGS Buoy Team was in collaboration with Mary Baldwin College and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
