I met Cecilia during her time as a master student at Konstfack in Stockholm. Cecilia was motivated, ambitious and hard working, always eager to learn new techniques and to develop her artistic vocabulary. In her thesis project, which I supervised, she made a series of sculptural furniture units, combining craft and digital technology. In order to push her tools and knowhow she initiated interdisciplinary dialogues with a series of professionals, ranging from a programmer to a glass blower. To position her self and to reach out to an audience relevant for her future work life in the field of spatial practice, she organized a very well received public seminar at Konstfack where she moderated a panel discussion with artists and designers. During her master studies, Cecilia has spent an impressive amount of time working with different advanced technologies and she shows great potential for a future career as a designer, creating including and technically provocative architecture.

    • Secretary of the Board

Secretary of the Board, elected representative. It is my responsibility to document the Board's meetings, which include discussions and deliberations conducted during such meetings. I register the Board's decisions and voting results and keep them in a special and organized register. This position gives me a good opportunity to contribute to activities organized by the art club. I currently represent the Board in a collaboration with a club member and photographer in a project where he will document our exhibition space. I contribute by communicating which values are to be highlighted, for example, the soul in our activities, the member's passions, and the space we activate. I also contribute with technical point cloud drawings of the club, which allow members to measure the space in preparation for planning their exhibitions. This project will be presented on Uppsala Konstnärsklubbs website during this autumn. www.uppsalakonstnarsklubb.se Show less

Specialized applied sculptural work focusing on contemporary crafts and the future of spatial design expression in relation to social sustainability issues. Through my research, I explore thresholds between the real and the virtual, particularly in terms of digital and physical wear and tear. My practice involves continuous artistic experimentation exploring digital tools and machine learning, interacting techniques, digital and material projections, and multidisciplinary applications. I am currently working on my first public art production, for SISAB UPP and Stockholm Konst, which is projected for installation in November 2021. Show less

Designer and creative craftsman at Ravenwood, a part of Jacksons Trädvård. We create new products by reusing wood from trees that for various reasons have had to be taken down. Ravenwood caters to outdoor spatial solutions, design and build oversized furniture, sculpture and quirky bird/insect habitats. I work closely with talented arborists and nature conservation staff. During the corona crisis, I have felt the need to branch out in my search for work. Through my employment within Biometria, I have the unique opportunity to learn more about the forest industry and about wood as a raw material. I am learning about fungi and insects, bark quality, twig growth, healthy trees and diseases, how wood is measured and classified for different industries and so on. I am stationed at the sawmill in Nyby and assigned to oversee and sample incoming timber for blue fungi, Ophiostomatales. However, my schedule is flexible and I have also spent time at the CHP plant in Märsta, a pulp mill in Skutskär and with product packaging in Nyby. Presently, I am receiving a great introduction to how the Swedish forest industry is organized and how many different parties cooperate. For me as a designer specifically interested in working with wood, this experience is invaluable. Show less

As a guest teacher, I was given the opportunity to plan and administer a three-day workshop for the RE-Master Studio under Thordis Arrhenius SAR and Mikael Bergquist SAR. My focus was to provide the architecture students with the tools and general insights needed for them to independently start working on a large three-dimensional point cloud. They transformed selected information into 2D drawings and explored the concept of superimposed imagery. The students were asked to reflect on laser scanning as an architectural tool for documenting and analyzing spatiality and how the information available can be part of their individual creative processes. In preparation for this teaching experience, I took the opportunity to reflect and plan for my communication with the students. I wanted to make this introduction fun and accessible to the whole class regardless of their individual prior knowledge of the subject at hand. We worked mainly in Trimble RealWorks, Rhinoceros 6 and Adobe Photoshop. Show less

In the future, I am interested in returning to school for a doctorate in Spatial Design. I volunteered as a student representative because I wanted to gather insight into the organization behind the educational planning at Konstfack. I was an active spokesperson during the workshops and meetings because I realized that the student perspective was largely under-represented. Vallastaden Bo- och Samhällsexpo invited a lot of different people and was an opportunity for me to create a new context for my BFA thesis. The vibrant city district, as a model for the future of urban planning, is built around central themes of social, environmental and economical sustainability. I meet representatives from the industry who encouraged me to develop my design. The whole experience gave me important knowledge in planning, writing and negotiating for a specific project budget. Furthermore, for Hemgården's account, it was my responsibility to recruit and schedule personnel that would guard a group of different exhibitions during the expo. I learned a lot from reaching out to and collaborating with Arbetsförmedlingen. I am thankful to Edvall Arkitekter and Hemgården for providing me with the opportunity to participate in the expo. During my philosophical studies at Uppsala University, I worked weekends providing care for intoxicated citizens. I am a patient person even though this employment did test my limits. It was a humbling experience, but I also learned about government routine and communication strategies, both written and spoken. I was tasked with training new personnel.
