  As a KID fellow at Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM) and the institution of Medicine at Karolinska Institute, I have investigated virulence factors of Streptococcus pneumoniae, including different protein constructs of an adhesin and the minor subunit of the gram-positive pilus of S. pneumoniae. These studies were mainly structural, including X-ray crystallography and Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), as well as biochemical (ELISA, SPR, CD) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). It has also included cloning, protein expression in E. coli and affinity purification, ion exchange purification and size exclusion purification. Affinity studies were performed using SPR with a BiacoreTM instrument, were protein stability studies, including serum and cleavage enzymes. Also studies were performed using circular dichroism.
