May 18, 2023 To Whom It May Concern: It is with immense pleasure that I am writing this recommendation letter at the request of Cecile Mioni. Cecile was my lecturer at the California State University, Monterey Bay. I attended her course, ENVS 282
Hayley Neadeau
Cecile is a great mentor who takes it upon herself to critically understand the work assigned, which results in honest and great work. One of her greatest talents is taking it upon herself to answer the questions that have yet to be asked - this leads her to be adaptive which is an essential quality to have in a scientist. Overall she is professional and someone who'll selflessly be there for you or the company.

Led research programs focused on understanding what controls microbial community structure and function in various aquatic systems (San Francisco Bay, Clear Lake, Monterey Bay, Antarctica). • My interests spanned from natural product research (Chemistry department, 2007-2008), as well as iron limitation in the open ocean to harmful cyanobacteria blooms in freshwater and brackish ecosystems (Institute of Marine Sciences, 2008-2015). • My responsibilities included directing research programs… Show more Led research programs focused on understanding what controls microbial community structure and function in various aquatic systems (San Francisco Bay, Clear Lake, Monterey Bay, Antarctica). • My interests spanned from natural product research (Chemistry department, 2007-2008), as well as iron limitation in the open ocean to harmful cyanobacteria blooms in freshwater and brackish ecosystems (Institute of Marine Sciences, 2008-2015). • My responsibilities included directing research programs, field sampling (both as lead Principal Investigator and as subordinate), sample and data analysis, grant writing and publication (reports and peer-reviewed articles), mentoring 3 students. • I also assisted Dr. Sue Carter (UCSC) and Dr Leslie Bebout (NASA) in their research on cyanobacteria. I was responsible for large-scale culture maintenance in greenhouses with selective photovoltaic panels, sample analysis, mentoring of one undergraduate student, and co-authoring a peer-reviewed article. Temporary part-time instructor. I was teaching the telecourse (online class) "BIO101: Unseen life on Earth". It was an introductory course to introduce students to key concepts in microbiology and biology. The course was divided between online lecture using a multimedia platform and "hands on, minds on" at home experiments that would help students understand the key concepts from the lecture and how they relate to their daily lives.
