This role involved maintaining the corporate Logan City Council website, including content, formatting and development, along with managing and writing original content for Council's social media channels (including Facebook and Twitter). I was also responsible for compiling monthly e-newsletters, providing web editing and social media training, writing policies and guidelines and developing fresh and creative ideas for social media, marketing campaigns and website improvement. Social Media Specifics: Implementation of strategies: - I worked on the development of a social media strategy, a social media policy (for internal staff use) and improved the public guidelines for how Council expects users to use social media accounts - I developed a "social media schedule" which outlined 3-4 ideas for each day of the calendar year - based on my own creative ideas, input from branch and whole organisation and around yearly and Council events, workshops etc. This of course could change on a day-to-day basis but acted as a good guide. Monitoring and Archiving: - Use of Hyper Alerts, Google Alerts, Twilert, AllFacebookStats and Backupify to archive all social media activity -The most effective tools to monitor social media that I have used include Social Mention and TrendsMap Writing content: - I was responsible for writing all content for all posts for Facebook and Twitter - Sometimes this involved going out onsite to take photos and post straight away - I have also live-tweeted and Facebooked while live at events, openings, State of Origin etc. Being able to do this while the topic is actually happening invites much more interaction and opportunity to start conversations. Other social media channels: - YouTube - maintaining channel, reporting analytics, uploading videos with rich SEO content - Flickr - selecting suitable photos, approving public submissions - Pinterest - setting up account, creating boards, following suitable accounts, sourcing suitable images.
