Whilst on a working visa in New Zealand, I worked at Wellington's Parliament building; The Beehive in Bellamy's Restauraunt. This was a new restauraunt, under the management of Logan Brown, where I predominantly worked as Front of House and assisting queries at the reception desk and as a waitress in the restauraunt. It was very important for us to maintain the standards and reputation of Logan Brown, by offering excellent customer service and having outstanding knowledge of the food and drinks… Whilst on a working visa in New Zealand, I worked at Wellington's Parliament building; The Beehive in Bellamy's Restauraunt. My approach had to be adapted daily to align with the individuals needs, with the aim to provide each student with the ability to live live as independently as possible post education. At Oakland’s, I worked with young adults with Special Needs both in the classroom and in the community. Due to the nature of the students that I worked with in this provision, I have had first-hand experience of dealing with challenging behaviours and de-escalating situations on numerous occasions. Patience was fundamental in this environment, as well as having good, clear, communication skills, working as a team and being able to take and deliver instructions. As well as my role in support, I covered many lessons, which occasionally involved last minute planning and leading activities and keeping all students in engaged. At Oaklands, I was also part of the mentor programme, which involved taking responsibility for new members of staff and their progress within the provision. As part of my mentor role, I attended regular meetings with management with regards to the scheme and voicing general queries on behalf of the provision and also co-ordinated my own meetings with my men-tees to track their progress. This job required continuous enthusiasm throughout rehearsal and performances to engage with the children and maintain their interest. The ability to improvise with the audience was also an essential aspect in order to connect with them and really bring the show to life. We also spent a lot of time promoting the show throughout our time at the Stratford fringe festival which involved speaking to various members of the public, delivering short and informative descriptions of our show and having a lively and friendly attitude.
