  AP Biology: Fall 2019 - Present Adapted retired teacher’s curriculum to meet 2020 revisions to College Board AP Biology course. Incorporated multiple inquiry labs such as an enzyme lab utilizing spectrophotometers to quantify oxygen production from peroxidase from root vegetables. Added biotechnology activities such as a PCR lab testing for circadian rhythm gene. Incorporated online curricula including Pivot lab simulations, HHMI activities, Pear Deck interactive lectures, and a COVID spike protein mutations BLAST lab. AP Research: Fall 2019 - Present Incorporated AP Research requirements in existing Advanced Science Research (ASR) class. Offered to second and third year ASR students who can identify STEM research questions, then implement and document their work in POD and final reports. Students must complete all requirements before the March regional science fair in order to comply with College Board requirements regarding direct mentoring. Advanced Science Research: Fall 2011 - Present Mentored students in any STEM field to identify unique research and engineering projects, design well-controlled experiments and document work in scientific and engineering notebooks. Students learn communication skills through weekly status updates in front of peers and in science fair poster presentations. Used personal connections to provide industry mentors across multiple disciplines to enhance student learning in the classroom. Chemistry: Fall 2005-Spring 2019 Developed curriculum to continuously improve and align chemistry curriculum with NGSS as well as with other chemistry teachers. This included alignment of lab experiences and formative and summative assessments. Biology: Fall 2005 - Spring 2007 Taught BSCS Ecology and inquiry-based curriculum to sophomores in accelerated biology curriculum. Show less
