currently: level 5 year leader 2012-2013: acting course director role includes: timetabling, devising and assessing most projects, employing staff, research, theory, workshops, leading field trips nationally and internationally Cathy’s practice-based research is motivated by the trans-disciplinary possibilities of collective, common and collaboration design. Her research draws on the theories and practices associated with fields including: Critical Theory / Pedagogy, Graphic Design, Design Studies, Collective Design, Digital Humanities, Action Research, Visual Culture and Design Activism. She established the Alternative Art School in 2013 as a radical pedagogic unit that encourages alternative approaches to design practice and education: a co-created critical research space in which students have the power to make change in macro and micro contexts. Through published articles Cathy’s writing for Message, Face Forward and ADCHE examines the role of ambiguity, creative dissent and collective agency in contemporary culture and education. Cathy is currently supervising two PhD candidates. Show less
