I am writing this recommendation on behalf of Catherine Thomas. I had the pleasure of supervising Catherine for a year and a half as a Resident Assistant (RA). Before becoming an RA at West Hall, Catherine was president of the Santa Fe/Traditions (SFT) Hall Association. As an advisor over the leading committee of all the hall associations, I remember being very impressed with Catherine. As president, she took necessary control when needed and remained impeccably organized even in the face of a degraded support system around her. As an advisor from afar, I was hopeful that I would have the opportunity to advise her myself. Fortunately for me, she decided to apply to become an RA instead where she was hired on by West Hall. I later became one of two supervisors at West Hall and was lucky enough to have Catherine on my staff when I arrived. Catherine has many traits, skills, and attributes that will make her a valuable part of any program. I listed a few below that I think best describe her. RELIABLE- Just as was the case during her time at SFT, Catherine remained throughout my time at West Hall very organized and in full control of all her responsibilities. While I was her supervisor, I never once doubted whether I could rely on Catherine to do anything. Whether that was as simple as show up to events on time or as demanding as responding to a weekend’s worth student crisis situations, which could be mentally arduous, Catherine was a beckon of security for myself. Most impressive of all was her ability to manage her class load. With a façade of ease, Catherine maintained a 4.0 each semester I supervised her. As a person not too far removed from ungraduated, myself, I marvel in this feat and feel this is an accomplishment to cherish. TEAM WORK- Catherine is the ultimate team player. She is completive, but welcoming. She is supportive, but challenging. She in many ways was a bonding agent for the West Hall community. While at West Hall, Catherine could be seen routinely attending hall-wide events, any and all intramural games, and was an active part in the building of friendships with her co-workers. She was nearly always the first to volunteer and never shied from a challenge that was requested of her from her supervisors or co-workers. This combination of positive zeal and competitive drive makes her a force to be reckoned with. After being her supervisor for a year and a half, I am proud to say she is a great friend of mine. Catherine has made West Hall a better place to live and she is one of the best individuals I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Catherine is highly ambitious, focused, and relentless to achieving her goals. I would recommend her for any job, role, or program. You would not regret it.
