Working to ensure that pre-service teachers are enriched by their student teaching experience is of the utmost importance within a teacher education program. As Director of Student Teaching and Certification at Medaille College, I strive to ensure that student teaching is a rewarding experience that allows our pre-service teachers to grow as educators as they apply pedagogical, content, and behavior management knowledge and skills within their student teaching placements by creating learning opportunities for their students, thus turning abstract concepts learned in education classes into concrete understanding. I also help our student teachers and graduates navigate through the New York State and Ontario College of Teachers Certification requirements to ensure that they become certified teachers within New York State and Ontario through the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).Within the Office of Student Teaching & Certification at Medaille College I also assist students by providing fieldwork opportunities that give our students depth and breadth of experiences within varied settings, thus ensuring their readiness to teach within a varirty of districts and boards as future in-service teachers. As Associate Teacher to student teachers within an alternate student teaching plan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I facailitate online learning opprtunities as student teachers develop a portfolio of online lessons to utilize within their practice. In addition, facilitating virtual learning opportunities for students within the Buffaloi area provides these student teachers with opportunities to teach students in need of extra academic support during this uncertain time.

As an Educational Consultant, I aid teachers in writing units of instruction/LEs that are centered around a problem of practice derived from datra analysis of student scores. The unit is fully developed with learning opportunities aligned to assessment tools that show congruency with state learning standards, student benchmark papers, data analyses of student work, teacher reflection, etc. The units are peer reviewed and amended after this process to aid in increasing student achievement.

As Director Of Accreditation for the Teacher Preparation Program at Daemen College, I work with the department faculty and staff to monitor and grow our program based on past CAEP and present AAQEP Standards. Continual program improvement allows our Education Department to provide our students an educator preparation program that teaches learning opportunities using best practice teaching strategies through continual data collaction; analysis; action plan creation, implementation, and augmentation. I assist in the creation of tools to collect this data, facilitate the validity and reliabilty studies needed to validate these tools, analyze the data, and create plans to make the data actionable to ensure efficient and effective program improvement.
