When I reported to Catherine, she was truly the face of the Office of Student Affairs, much more than those more senior than her. She employed her marketing skills by truly listening to the student body that she served and producing programming that had unprecedented success. While Catherine held the position of Director of Student Activities and Recreational Services, she applied her business administration knowledge and skills to execute the most phenomenal, creative, and popular events and programming that the University of Dallas has ever seen. She dealt with sales on a regular basis, as she executed numerous ticketed events and merchandise sales each academic year, the most notable being the annual University of Dallas Groundhog Day celebration. Every year that Catherine oversaw that event, she constantly sought out more creative and more efficient ways to raise ticket sales and attendance, leaving the event sold out multiple years. I witnessed Catherine loyally working as many hours as it took to guarantee success, meaning she often worked overtime while simultaneously earning her MBA. Her time-management skills and technique revolutionized the way that I manage my own time now. If I ever needed to describe the definition of an excellent leader, I would be describing Catherine perfectly. She is effective, creative, professional, and highly motivated; if our roles were reversed and I ever needed to assign a task, Catherine would undoutedbly be my top choice. I would rest assured that it would be completed efficiently, punctually- if not early- and that she would be constantly pushing herself to perform even better than the day before. But above all, Catherine is an exemplary leader because serving and leading are synonymous in the way that she operates. She would never ask someone to do something that she herself would not be willing to do, and she takes joy in guiding, motivating, and empowering those that she leads. Catherine Rowles is one of the most inspiring, hard-working, intelligent people that I have ever met, and she is undoubtedly the best supervisor that I have ever had. Catherine will be of priceless value to any company or organization that she serves.

Catherine empowers her team by giving each individual member unique guidance that aims to develop him into his full potential. She achieved this by not only having a weekly team meeting, but also having individual meetings. During these meetings, she would make our goals for the week very clear and she would advise each member to ensure we would not just be successful, rather we would be exceptional. This desire for excellence is a trait she passes on to her team. Even while providing criticism, she maintains a positive environment. Her dedication and passion for her work is contagious. I was motivated by her example. In other words, I am a better person professionally and personally because of her. I can truly say every success I've had since I began working for Catherine I owe to her. Memories of my time on her team continue to give me confidence, perseverance, and inspiration.
