Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Chair
-
Sep 2022 - Dec 2022
Whilst on my year abroad, I became a community leader at WCRi. After attending a North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO) conference, I noticed that WCRi did not have a DEI Chair. I proposed the role and was subsequently elected. During my term, I established a period equity scheme on-site for our members and proposed bylaw changes to ensure the use of inclusive language.

Teaching Assistant
-
Mar 2018 - Sep 2022
I assisted with the teaching of singing, dancing and acting to children aged 4-7, including leading games and activities. This allowed me to develop my skills in engaging young children and helping them to feel confident whilst in a group where they may not know each other. Through this role I also have experience of chaperoning older children and communicating with parents. During summer workshops, I have assisted younger children with special educational needs, encouraging them to participate and enjoy a range of activities.

I spent two months working alongside the Council’s Planning Officers and by the end of the two months I was able to handle simple Discharge of Conditions and Permitted Development cases without assistance and became proficient in APAS and Spectrum GIS mapping systems quickly. Through this role I had the opportunity to interact with a variety of professionals including Agents and local Councillors.
