As the curriculum developer for Science4Us I was part of a development team that built an online K-2 science curriculum from the ground up. Identifying and incorporating the needs of teachers and students drove our creative process and made for a very insightful development process. • Curriculum design and development of Science4Us, a K-2 digital science curriculum built on the 5E Instructional Model that incorporates online and offline interactions for students, digital student notebooks that can be reviewed and commented on by the educator, digital and print assessments, online glossary, and extensive teacher support. • Development of all professional development components in multiple formats including: in person workshops, embedded program video, embedded program text and "how to" videos and text • Analysis of past and current national and high achieving state science standards for content guidance and integration • Analysis of Common Core State Standards in Math and Language Arts for integration Show less

While working for the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University I was a Project Coordinator for two multi-year grant projects: Science IDEAS and a Vocabulary Transfer study. Science IDEAS funded by The National Science Foundation #0228353 • Develop and deliver professional development workshops in: Life, Earth and Space Science for teachers grades K-8 • Develop integrated science curriculum grades K-5 utilizing National and State Science Standards • Act as an intermediate between principal investigator and all stake holders • Design, coordinate, and direct summer professional development workshops (150 teachers) • Identify demographically matching control schools for assessment of project effectiveness • Organize, design, print, distribute, collect, and evaluate assessment materials to all participating schools (approximately 30,000 students assessed per year) • Assist in the content development and design of the project website (www.scienceideas.org) • Direct supervisor of 4 student research assistants Vocabulary Transfer Study funded by the Dept of Education, Institute of Education Sciences #R305A090523 • Identify project schools for participation in Department of Education funded research project • Develop and deliver professional development as per research guidelines to participating teachers • Record and analyze student data collected and teacher fidelity of implementation • Liaison between Principal Investigator and all stake holders Show less
