During this time I worked with the divisions to identify and secure positive press opportunities, produce and design patient literature and newsletters, source and compose internal good news stories and craft statements in response to negative media enquiries, amongst other things. Between August and October 2014, I supported the Head of Internal Communications in the lead up the a Trust wide Care Quality Commission inspection. This was an intensive period of activity, in which we produced a range of communications to ensure staff were prepared for the new style of inspection. I was specifically involved in arranging a series of Executive briefings, setting up weekly webinars, creating and maintaining intranet pages, designing publications and noticeboards for wards, and ensuring key messages were appropriately shared with staff through established communication channels. As part of a team-wide restructure my role transformed to focus specifically on internal communications. I was made responsible for managing the key internal communication channels, including the Weekly Bulletin and The Journal - the Trust wide staff magazine. I was also involved in representing the Communications Team for a number of internal initiatives, such as the Trust's Health and Wellbeing programme and the New Ways of Working work stream. I joined the team when the charity still went by its previous name 'Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust General Charitable Fund'. At that time the team were about the embark on a process of creating a new identity for the charity which would resonate with the Trust's staff, patients, service users, family, friends, and the local community. I was brought in as the communications lead. Over a three month period, our small team of three shortlisted names, visual identities, consulted with staff and patients, and gained sign off from the Trust board. During this time, I developed key messaging, built a website, wrote and designed online resources, held feedback sessions, gathered case studies, set up social media, and created a communications strategy for the charity. In September 2015, we re-launched the charity internally to Southern Health staff as 'brighterway'. The aim of re-launching with a new identity was to change how the organisation viewed charitable funds. Previously, staff had very low awareness of charitable funds and those that knew about them found it difficult to access funding and had little understanding of why funds were so unequally divided between services. By becoming 'brighterway' we were able to position ourselves as a proactive fundraising charity, encouraging staff to think outside of existing funds and about what they would like to fundraise for - making the seemingly impossible possible. Since launching brighterway, I have also been able to start building a outward facing reputation and presence for the charity. I have been helping teams who are proactively fundraising to promote their appeals externally by securing local media coverage, creating case studies to be presented to potential corporate donors and sharing their fantastic work via social media. Already, we are starting to find that more and more people recognise brighterway as a local charity brand. Show less

In addition to my job role, I produced a number of videos to support internal communications, designed and created a dedicated membership website and carried out a number of photo shoots. NHS membership provides opportunities for the local community, patients, staff and partners to get involved in the Trust's work and have a much bigger say in the way the local health services are run. To gain Foundationd Trust status, Solent NHS Trust needs to recruit 10,000 members by 2014. Show less
