I work with the US Board of Directors, the Nicaraguan Board of Directors, as well as the Local Advisory Board to strengthen the Foundation through fundraising opportunities, programs, and other logistical support. As I am the youngest member of the Board, I bring modern ideas to the table and also suggest environmentally sustainable options in order to improve the footprint of our organization. I researched sustainable initiatives and projects in MEP Maria Walsh’s constituency of the Midlands-North-West in Ireland, and proposed certain legislative action and further support methods to help Ireland reach the goals set out 2030, and to provide resources to those in the region with ways to turn their businesses, homes, and lifestyles, green. I spent the summer at the Center for Coastal Studies running their SEASpace Center in Provincetown as well as their beach tent locations in order to teach visitors about the marine ecosystem and the harmful impacts that are currently decreasing the health and wellbeing of large marine mammals. One of our main focuses communicated to the public is our Marine Animal Entanglement Response team that helps free whales and other mammals from fishing gear and other lines in the ocean. I ran our Get to the Bottom of It Program on the Provincetown low tide flats to teach youth about the foundation of marine life, as well as the Junior Marine Animal Entanglement Response Program where students learn the techniques used to disentangle large marine animals from fishing gear and nets. Lastly, I also was a staff member for our Whale Camp program which consists of a week long adventure where students get more in-depth learning opportunities about whales and other marine life in the region.
